SLIMOp Space selected to join ESA BIC Barcelona Incubation Program

The Business Incubation Center of the European Space Agency in Barcelona (ESA BIC Barcelona) brings together start-ups that develop innovative projects related to the NewSpace economy

SLIMOp Space, a visionary NewSpace start-up specializing in Super lightweight Optical Telescopes for Earth Observation (EO), announces its acceptance into the prestigious European Space Agency Business Incubator Center of Barcelona (ESA BIC Barcelona).

After a rigorous evaluation process, SLIMOp Space has been awarded this significant opportunity and will receive support provided by ESA BIC Barcelona which will be invaluable as SLIMOp Space enters a crucial development phase, accelerating the realization of its first prototype and intellectual property management. Additionally, during the incubation period, SLIMOp Space will benefit from the R&D expertise and support of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - UPC.

SLIMOp Space has made remarkable progress in recent months, conducting scientific research, virtual modelling, and market studies, which have garnered recognition and support from leading space companies, experts, investors, and organizations. This valuable guidance and advice have propelled SLIMOp Space towards success.

The core focus of SLIMOp Space lies in their pioneering theme of "Super lightweight Optical Telescopes for Earth Observation (SLIMOp)." By specializing in the design and manufacturing of space telescopes for nano and mini-satellites, the company aims to revolutionize the EO satellite integrators market.

The company's disruptive design fills a critical void for low-weight, high-resolution imagers that can be rapidly deployed and scaled to meet the surging demand for Earth Observation satellite constellations. Furthermore, in subsequent phases, SLIMOp Space's telescope models will evolve for Space Astronomy applications while retaining the advantages of low cost, low weight, and fast delivery.

Currently, SLIMOp Space is actively engaged in securing smart seed capital to expedite its development operations, conduct further tests and certifications, and attract additional talent to bolster the team.
